Ok, so you all know I have never blogged before. I have read a few blogs, so I hope I have this right. This blog is for my class -The Effective Classroom- The first unit that we are working on is on the Discipline Theorists. I have enjoyed this section so far. I did get the book CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT for Elementary Teachers. I am going to hang on to this book. I think that it will be useful.
I am a mom so I have some practice with rules and discipline. I would say that I am a strict mom and I don't bend on the rules. Once the words are said it's a done deal. The rules are simple, respect each other and treat them as you want to be treated. I do believe in positive reinforcement. I think when you build the kids up they will want to work harder for you. Another thing that I have learned through parenting is that kids talk to you the way that you talk to them. So if you yell, they will eventually yell back. If you stay calm, then usually they speak to you calmly as well. With all of that being said I think I like Canter's Assertive Discipline. I like a calm and productive environment. I also think that we are here for the students and should fight for their rights to learn.
My biggest fear for teaching would be the difficult students without disrupting the whole class.
